Adrian Elsener

daniel.marbach

Hi there, I’m Adrian Elsener. After my IT study in Lucern, I started working in an engineering office. The first years I was employed as testing engineer. I’ve done test automation with JUnit and GUI-testing. We used a HtmlUnit-based (more or less self-written) web testing framework. We tried to use FitNesse, so our customers could write the acceptance tests themselves. Since we had a lot of problems testing pdf documents because we could not test them automatically, I implemented a simple Java based PDF-reader to turn the problem into a practical solution.

Daniel Marbach

My name is Daniel Marbach and I’m working as a software engineer at bbv software services ag in lucerne. My first experience with computer technology was the famous monkey island game which fascinated me so much that I wanted to be a professional working with computer related stuff from that time on. During my education at the kantonsschule luzern and the university of applied science in horw I was working on web development mainly concentrating on PHP, MySQL and javascripts.

I also made my hands dirty with Java, J2EE and finally C#. My special interests during my studies were mobile software development with J2ME/J2SE on symbian and C# on the .NET compact framework. Since 2008 I’m a microsoft professional and also technology specialist in windows mobile application development. My main focus currently is in the field of hybrid application development targeting both .NET compact and .NET full framework with as much code reuse as possible.

Daniel Schröter

daniel.schroeter

Hi there. My name is Daniel Schröter. I’m working as software architect/developer at Löwenfels AG in Lucern. My first contact with computers was when I bought an x86 in 1992. Soon thereafter I began writing QBasic on this thing. Later I made an apprenticeship as electronics technician where I learned a lot about hard and software. Assembler was my favorite language back then but there was also C/C++ and Pascal. Knowing there is a lot more to learn I studied information technologies at the university of applied sciences in horw. This is where I touched Java, Perl and C#. After my degree I’ve been working for very small and very large companies mostly using Java.

Currently I’m working on a big project for compensation offices in switzerland. Scrum is our way to develop things. On the technical side I’m having hard times with legacy software components but there is also a lot to design anew for new components. My focus is where I see most need – this includes mainly framework stuff (I am a member of the framework team) and build and development infrastructure.

As of 2009 I also look after 2 information technologies apprentices. I is a good thing to share experience – it really adds new perspectives.

Konrad Dambeck

konraddambeck

Hi folks, my name is Konrad aka Koni. I’m writing for planetgeek.ch and my own blog dambeck.ch. I was born in 1980 in Kriens, a small city near Lucerne. Soon I discovered my interest in technology (Lego, moped, ATARI 1024ST). After school I completed an apprentiship to become a car mechanic, which turned out not to be the right job for me! So, I ventured out to the IT world and studied about Novell CNE, Pc-Lan SIZ, CCA, Citrix, Microsoft and more. In the last 10 years I have been working as an IT professional in the travel industry (tour operators). Currently I am employeed by the Swiss Government, of couse still in the IT world!

Design, maintenance and troubleshooting bugs in Windows, Citrix, VMware, Linux and Novell is my work and moreover my passion. I truly hope that you enjoy my blog posts and hopefully find some useful information. For feedback contact me at konrad.dambeck[at]planetgeek.ch.

Cheers!

Stefan Jäger

My name is Stefan Jäger. After my study in Lucerne, I started working for Zühlke Engineering AG in Bern. My current job mainly focuses on developing high-availability and business-critical applications with Java EE. In my free time I enjoy nordic skiing or running. Besides sports I like to relax with watching some movies.

Urs Enzler

urs.enzler

I’m Urs Enzler and I’m working as an software architect and consultant at bbv Software Services AG in Zug. My career as a software developer started by reverse-engineering my brother’s computer programs from school (Turbo Pascal). The next step was coding a two player Pac-Man in Delphi 2 with DirectX 3.0 (that was a cool time and a 4 year project ;-) ). Then I decided to make my hobby to my job and studied computer science at the ETH in Zürich.

After finishing my Master in Computer Science (at that time this was simply called a “Diplom”), I started working with .net.

Today, my main interests are agile software development (Scrum), Test Driven Development (TDD) and NMock2 – a .net mocking framework for creation of dynamic mocks in unit tests.

Nicola Lardieri

My name is Nicola Lardieri. I’m working at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts as research assistant. After my engineer’s degree I focused my interests on network design and security. I’m currently involved with the maintenance and innovation of two computer science laboratories: the Cisco networking lab and Security lab. Innovation includes researching existing technologies and synthesize experiments, which studends can accomplish in the labs. I’m also teaching Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) courses for further education at the Cisco Academy.

Daniel Seiler

My name is Daniel Seiler. I’m writing for planetgeek.ch and my own blog ultima.ch. Born in 1977, I got in touch with a computer for the first time when I was 6. That was an Commodore C-64 (I love that one..) Of course “the computer thing” had me after that and I’m on Computer since that first experience.
I’m working for a holiday and tourism company in Switzerland as a Network Engineer and Security Engineer. Main focus of my work is Firewall, Active Directory, VMWare Infrastructure, Remote Access and Patch-Management. Sometimes a bit of 3rd-Level-Support comes along ;)
I’m mainly interested in Microsoft Certification, Micrsoft Server and Client Operating Systems, Mobile Devices and technology as a business enabler. In addition I’m actually diving into Visual Basic 2008, .Net-Framework and advanced PowerShell-scripting.
I own some MCP certificates and prepare myself for “MCITP: Enterprise Administrator” at the moment. This fall I’ll start my bachelor studies in computer science at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Art.

Thomas Weingartner

thomas.weingartner

I’m Thomas Weingartner. I started working with computers when I was 14 years old and that’s 30 years from now. I went through all the technology developments from text based Genie TRS80 through Commodore PET, Atari ST with a great graphical operating system in the ROM and all the Windows systems from 2, 3, 3.11, 95, 98, NT, 2000, XP, Vista and Windows 7. On the programming side I started with Basic and Turbo Pascal. After that first experience I stepped forward to Borland Pascal for Windows and then to Delphi. That was a big step moving from dealing with Windows controls, flags and structures to Delphi Controls with their own model of properties and events. That was a quantum leap!
All of these programming stuff I did in my free-time, because at that time, I was an engineer in Heating Ventilation and Air-Conditioning. I spent so much time in programming, that I decided to make my hobby to my profession, so I passed an information solutions study in Horw.
During my professional life as a developer I’ve seen Delphi32, SqlWindows, Visual Basic, a bit of Assembler, a lot of database technologies and in depth work with TCP/IP. As .NET 1.0 was released in 2002 we started a big .NET project and I’ve been loyal to .NET down to the present day.

Today I’m working as a Software Architect for a big healthcare company. Besides the architecture and design I’m interested in agile development, TDD, user interface technologies and all the challenges around performance. I’m currently working with Windows 7 Beta 64bit.
